Known 1998 forfeits
---- western VA ----
Oct. 22 - Today's Bristol Herald Courier reports that Patrick Henry-Glade
Springs has forfeited their season-opening wins over Hogo. rivals Chilhowie and
Northwood for using an ineligible player. The freshman, who was on the field
for a combined 7 plays, had not completed his Literacy Passport requirements.
It was also reported that Lunenburg Central has forfeited a win for the same
reason.
(I later found out it was a 41-0 win at Brunswick Co. on Sept. 11.)
(I should note that their are a few inaccuricies in the Bristol story about the
number of power points Northwood picked up [10, not 14], along with the district
and overall records of the 3 teams involved.)
---- elsewhere in VA ----
Sept. 29 - Yesterday, South Lakes forfeited their 35-13 win at Washington-Lee
on Sept. 18th because of an ineligible player.
The player failed to pass 5 subjects during the spring, but had went to summer
school to make up the credits. A paperwork overview missed that fact, and the
player competed in the first 3 games.
The Seahawks drop from 1-3 to 0-4.
---- NCAA ----
Sept. 24 - Texas A&M's 28-7 win over La. Tech on Sept. 12th has been forfeited
because Aggies RB D'Andre Hardeman was academically ineligible.
