Known 1997 VHSL forfeits

So, you want more details on those 15 forfeits during 1997? Well, here's the low-down :

On Sept. 11th, Tazewell forfeited their only win of the season to Lebanon.
The Bulldogs used a player who was too old.

On Sept. 26th , E.C. Glass forfeited their first 3 wins (to Heritage-Lynchburg, Bishop McNamara D.C. & Jefferson Forest).
A player was placed in the wrong grade when he transferred to Lynchburg four years ago, and it was just now noticed.

On Oct. 15th, GW-Danville forfeited 3 wins : to C.D. Hylton, Cardozo D.C. & Patrick Henry-Roanoke.
It seems that a student had transferred in from North Carolina, then his family moved to Philly, but he stayed behind and moved in with another family outside of the town limits without notifying school officials.

Osbourn Park forfeited 4 wins : to Potomac Falls, Stafford, King George & Stonewall Jackson.

J. I. Burton forfeited their win over Garden.

On Nov. 11, Garden forfeited 3 games : to Narrows, Ervinton & J I Burton.
A player who had transfered in hadn't met the grade requirements.

(NOTE: Because both Garden & JI Burton used an ineligible player, this contest is officially recorded as a loss for BOTH teams ... sorry, Coach Wilson.)

Well, that Region 4 forfeit thing never developed (remember what happened to Pulaski Co. in '95 ???)
It seems that a certain Region IV playoff school had a player get ejected during a regular season game, but he didn't sit out the following game, which his team won. The matter was apparently handled by the district.

NOTES :
A : State finals won't be played at neutral site !!! Full story was in the Bristol Herald Courier .
