Mart. at Grundy driving directions : Are you SERIOUS???? You want to drive 4 and a half hours for a 1st round game ???? Well, if you insist :

Take 220 N. to Roanoke & I-581. Exit left onto I-81 South.

Go 1 hour to Wytheville and take I-77 North (Exit 72, I think).

Go about 30 minutes to Bluefield. As you come out of East River Mtn. Tunnel (NOT Big Walker Mtn. Tunnel), exit right to Rt. 52. Hang a right at the stop sign.

Go about 2 miles to a ‘bad’ intersection. The traffic light is at the end of a 90 degree curve, so, when you see the signs for Rt. 460, start slowing down quickly. Take a left at the light.

Drive about 35 miles or so to Claypool Hill; this is a weird intersection. Here, Rt. 19 continues straight, but Rt. 460 ‘exits’ to the right. You don’t use the traffic light; you have a turning lane with a ‘merge’ sign. (You’ll know you’re there when you see a Lowes to the left, and a new hotel and gas station / McDonalds on the right.)

Stay on Rt. 460 for about 45 minutes to downtown Grundy. You’ll be in a 25 MPH speed zone for about 1 mile before you get to downtown. Just past the courthouse, take a right at the light onto Rt. 83.

Follow this 2 lane road for about 2 miles. You’ll go around a curve and see the 5 or 6 story hospital off to the right. Go past the hospital and turn right across the bridge.

Go about 150 yards to football field. DO NOT PARK at the hospital or in front of the YMCA !!! Here are the parking lots :
1. Just past the Y, on the left (across from the bleachers)
2. Between the field and the school.
3. In front of the school.
4. Go just beyond the school, take a right UP the hill (not the first right, which goes behind the school) and there is a small lot (15-25 cars) on the right at the 1 story buildings.
5. If you’re late and traffic is backed up, there is a lot just past the bridge on the right side of Rt. 83.

NOTE : You will NOT leave the same way you came in. Downtown Grundy has 1-way traffic.
When you get back downtown to Rt. 460 (just past the Food City), you MUST make a right hand turn, but you need to be in the left lane. Go about 200 yards to the next light and make a left. This will take you behind downtown and back to 2-way 460 in about 1 mile.
