Group AAA - Division 5
Nov. 29 & Dec. 6
After spotting West Potomac a 1st quarter TD, William Fleming "ran" off 47
unanswered points on their way to a berth in next Saturday's state finals at
Norfolk State Univ. Lee Suggs & J.R. Word, a.k.a. The Diesel, ran roughshod
through the Wolverine defense, each scoring on 50+ yard runs and combining for
5 TD's & 337 yards. Safety Jermaine Hardy capped off the scoring with a 95 yard
interception return with under a minute to play.
Down on the coast, Ronald Curry threw 4 50+ yard TD passes and broke the 8,000
yard passing mark in Hampton's rout of P.H.-Ashland. An overflow crowd of over
10,000 had fans standing 2-deep around the fence.
Fleming makes it's 1st title game appearance while nationally ranked Hampton
(#5 in the USA Today poll) will try for their first-ever three-peat.
